Katherine Olejniczak is a Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, a Certified Play Therapist with Play Therapy International (PTI), and a Registered Play Therapist with the Australasia Pacific Play Therapy Association (APPTA).
Katherine is passionate about delivering child-sensitive counselling interventions and has a particular interest in the application of play and creative arts therapy approaches with children, particularly with those who have experienced trauma. Katherine has experience in the provision of counselling to children, young people and families in the areas of abuse related trauma, family violence, high conflict parental separation, grief and loss, and drought and bushfire disaster recovery. She has worked extensively with children, young people and their families in the child protection system and out of home care programs, and in therapeutic residential care.
Katherine also works with adults, having had previous experience in community health, hospital, and clinical and outreach settings, having lived and worked many years in rural communities.
As the Principal Psychologist within the team, Katherine provides support to all team members, as well as assisting Tess with the overall clinical management of the practice.
Outside of work, Katherine loves listening to classical music, being on, in, or by the water, and indulging her love of travel and exploring new places.
